Pub group Brewhouse & Kitchen has acquired its first Welsh pub site with the help of London law firm Joelson.
The company, which has 18 sites across the UK, has acquired the freehold of Y Mochyn Du pub on the edge of Sophia Gardens in Cardiff.
It has plans to refurbish and reopen the pub next year, with the addition of its own microbrewery on site to prepare craft beers and ales.
The new premises in the home town of its co-founder, Kris Gumbrell, is situated next door to Glamorgan Cricket Club’s ground and the Sport Wales National Centre, and is a short walk to the Millennium Stadium, which the firm hopes will help drive customers to the site.
